Born 1930
Education 1960 BA, MA. Arch., Yale University, New Haven, CT

Tim Prentice is a kinetic sculptor; he works in a variety of lightweight materials including aluminum, feathers, and Lexan, as well as stainless steel. Prentice investigates the shape, form and flow of wind currents in order to create the illusion of making air visible. The intriguing structures and reflective metals he uses enable the sculpture to soar or undulate in response to their environment, as well as create a dynamic interplay between sculpture and surrounding.

Originally trained as an architect, Prentice turned to sculpture in the 1970s. His architectural training has enabled him to design commissions with a sensitivity to their surroundings whether they be for large corporations or private collections. He lives and works in Connecticut.
